A                          B

(A) Single implants: These implants are ideal for a single missing tooth which may have been lost due to infection, fracture or may be congenitally missing. Typically this treatment takes about 5 - 6 months which includes implant placement, and fitting an abutment and a crown. Sometimes bone grafting is needed, which may prolong the treatment duration. Single implants are preferred choice over bridges since there is no grinding of healthy neighboring teeth.

(B) Multiple implants: When multiple teeth are missing from a small segment of the jaw, implant supported bridge is the best treatment for stability, and longevity. Implant teeth dont get new cavities and rarely need to be replaced in your lifetime. They are very stable and can have great esthetics. The picture above shows a segment of 6 missing teeth that are replaced by 4 implants and a 6 unit bridge. Careful placement of implants and careful construction of bridge can predictably lead to a great result.

(C) Implant supported full dentures:(see below) If all teeth from a jaw are unfortunately lost, implants are the ideal way to replace all missing teeth in a single treatment. The picture below shows a patient having lost all her lower teeth, received four implants and a full set of 12 teeth were fixed on top of the four implants. This bridge is fixed in the mouth, and is maintained by brushing and a WaterPik.
